The Virtual Health Network is a program sponsored by the University of Texas System, and supported through the Health Affairs division under Executive Vice Chancellor John Zerwas, MD. The proposal for the program was created by Alex Vo, PhD, Vice President, Chief Commercialization and Strategic Ventures Officer at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and approved by the University of Texas Board of Regents. The VHN is presently staffed by UTMB Director of Telehealth, Mari Robinson, JD, in partnership with Senior Systems Analyst & IT Expert Oliver Black and Program Manager Sue Stramblad.
The University of Texas Medical Branch is the academic home of MTREC. Led by President Dr. Charles Mouton, UTMB has decades of expertise in the areas of telemedicine and health technology, with over a million completed telemedicine visits in diverse locations around the globe, from Kenya to Antarctica. The Center is housed within Dr. Alex Vo’s Health Innovations Department, a group focused on the use of technology to improve health outcomes. Staffing the Center are Director Mari Robinson, JD; Director Scott Moen, PhD; Senior Systems Analyst & IT Expert Oliver Black and Program Manager Sue Stramblad.
